Maine Real Estate News & Notes
Our New Blog is Live
Did you know that the term “blog” is actually short for “web log” which was first used by John Barger in 1997. Two year later, the short form "blog," was introduced by Peter Merholz. Today, the word blog is both a noun and a verb!
In any case, a lot has changed in the last decade. Not so long ago blogs were the domain of personal bloggers ranting about their point-of-view. In most cases readers, if there were any, simply raged back.
Today blogs have become much more sophisticated and are an important part of business marketing, especially in real estate. We have been writing MaineRealEstateNews since June 2006 and our first post on the Maine Coast has been read over 7,000 times.
The Homebuyers are Online
Business-oriented blogging is an online amalgam of news, features and other information of specific interest to your readers. Nowadays, with nine out of ten buyers beginning their property searches on the internet, this aspect of the marketing effort cannot be overlooked. We have found that virtually all buyers have spent time doing online research before ever contacting an agent.
This short article, however, is less about how to construct the perfect blog and more about introducing our newest blog – incorporated into our website – MaineHomeConnection.com/Blog. It is powered by the newest software available and with improved navigation features, categories of information are easier to find, easier to share with friends on social media sites like Facebook and easier to comment on.
Enhanced Features
Of course, visitors will have the ability to view all properties available in the MLS and access our complete relocation and waterfront services. We are also preparing a growing library of videos focused on neighborhoods and local business and community leaders with the purpose of providing the most comprehensive online information available for those considering Maine, and the greater Portland area for their next home
The idea from our perspective is to put as much useful content out there as possible so that our readers can cherry-pick what they want, weigh-in with any comments or suggestions, or request more information.
We encourage you to visit often and join-in the online discussion. Our goal is to provide new content several times each week. Give it a try – this blog won’t bite.
