This County is responsible for over 90% of the nation’s blueberry crop and is the world’s largest producer of blueberries. The County boasts hiking trails both inland and on the coast for visitors and citizens alike. Washington County is also home to the Passamaquoddy Indian Reservation. The county, named after George Washington, had a per capita personal income of $22,469 in 2002. This was an increase of 27.0% from 1997. The 2002 figure was 73% of the national per capita income, which was $30,906.
