27 Thornhurst Road

Classic Lines

OPEN HOUSE SUNDAY, AUGUST 21 11:00-1:00

Falmouth, Maine is located just north of Portland on the coast of Casco Bay. It has a population of about 11,000 people and covers approximately 32 square miles from the coastline to the rural areas further inland. Falmouth is a vibrant town consisting of a local harbor and town landing, indoor and outdoor skating facilities, shopping, golf courses, a medical center and so much more.

The Falmouth school system is ranked as one of the best in the state, providing services for K-12.

The Foreside

The Falmouth Foreside is one of those locations in which everyone wants to live, but only a few are able. Whether on the ocean side, or the 'other' side, the Foreside is beautiful and inviting. With a neighborhood feel and a summer time allure, this area has that small town feel yet is so very close to Portland. Down many of the winding roads on the ocean side are stately homes with lovely views and close proximity to our great Casco Bay. Luckily, 27 Thornhurst is one of those homes. This home is on the market for the first time and has been lovingly maintained since its inception. All the way to the end of the road is where you will find this contemporary 1983 home.

A Classic Home

When a home like this, at this price, in this neighborhood comes on the market, one should jump on the opportunity to own it. The home is solid, well-built, and very well maintianed. Upon first entering the home through stained glass doors, you see a grand entry way and staircase leading up to 4 bedrooms. A tiled, open foyer leads you in many directions. The first I'd take is into the splendid living room. Here, the room is so large, you will have much room for several sitting areas - especially around the wood burning fireplace. The vaulted ceilings give depth and breadth to this room. And the generous windows allow plenty of light in and plus views out to the terrific yard. The living room opens up to the dining room where it is large enough for a big family to gather and have a warm Thanksgiving meal. Hard wood floors adorn this room as well as more of those generous windows.

The kitchen, or, the heart of the home, as we like to call it, is roomy enough to eat in with the table area centered around a wood stove. Imagine sipping your morning coffee while warming up by the stove. The kitchen has new, stainless double wall ovens, gas cooktop, and microwave. The brick, satillo tile is unique and mimics the brick details in the home. You will not want for storage in this room as there is ample cabinetry and counter space.

Off the kitchen is the laundry room/mud room and the first floor Master Bedroom. Everyone wants a first floor Master these days, and to have a house built in the '80s that has one, is very rare! The Master is large, has double closets, a view of the back yard, and, of course, an en suite. Yes, it needs updating, but lovely to have one! A half bath rounds out the first floor.

Spacious and Open

The first floor of #27 Thornhurst has a great layout. And the second floor does too! Although the town has this home as a 4 bedroom home, there are actually 5! The first floor master, and then 4 upstairs! Each of the rooms are substantial with lots of light and closets. Plenty of room for a big family, or, use the extra bedrooms as an office, a guest room, or a sitting room. Whatever pleases your fancy!

There's More

A sweet sunroom at the back of the house overlooks the in-ground pool. With a gravel tile floor and carribean green paint on the wall, this glassed in room feels like you're in the tropics! And it's the perfect place to take off wet suits before entering the main part of the house. With just under 2 acres of land, this lot is private and has plenty of space for outdoor activities. Mature trees add shade and the grounds are level - perfect for a picnic!

This classic home has a lot of features that make it a perfect family home. Call today for a private showing.
