South Portland Maine Real Estate

A Guide to Local Area Resorces

The City of South Portland is a coastal community in southern Maine encompassing an area of 12.93 square miles. The city consists of two distinct sections - the western half of the city is host to commercial, industrial and advanced technology property and the eastern half of the city includes a community college, Willard Beach, several parks, one of the State’s largest marinas, a municipal boat ramp, a maritime museum and the second busiest oil port on the entire East Coast.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Greenbelt Walkway, is a three-mile paved path that follows the shore and connects to the Spring Point Shoreway, a mile-long walking trail that goes to Bug Light Park, home of what may be the world's most elegant lighthouse, Portland Harbor Light, or Bug Light.

Willard Beach - South Portand, MaineIn addition to remarkable views, the lighthouse, and the walking paths, Bug Light Park offers salt water fishing and boat ramps.

Approximately a mile long, Willard Beach offers fantastic views of Spring Point Lighthouse and Fort Preble. Sheltered from the Atlantic ocean, the beach is a popular destination for those seeking a gentle surf and relaxing views of all types of sail and power boats. Southern Maine has many beautiful sandy beaches, and Willard Beach in South Portland is no exception!
