Portland Maine is surprisingly a large condo market.  In any given year approximately 200 units are sold, ranging from small one-bedroom lofts to grander residences overlooking Casco Bay

Currently there are 117 condos and townhomes on the market in a wide spectrum of prices.  The least expensive is $79,000 and the most expensive is $900,000.

The median listing price is $219,000, yet for those shopping for value, the lower part of the market offers very limited choices.  In the price range of $150,000 and below there are only 26 properties currently available for sale.

If you are searching in this price range, you might want to consider 485 St John St.  Located in the downtown district, the second floor of this two-unit building (circa 1885) offers three bedrooms, one large bath with a whirlpool tub, hardwood floors, an open and flowing floorplan, a double-sided fireplace and a garage (very uncommon for a downtown unit).
